(SUBS)
We believe education is one of the most powerful tools for prevention.
We've heard from MN social workers that exploitation is happening among students as young as 3rd grade.
As soon as children are accessing technology, they are at an increased risk for exploitation. After years of vetting programs, C.A.S.T. will be offering a prevention curriculum for elementary-age students. With Childhelp’s Speak Up Be Safe, we can now bring life-changing and life-saving information to youth of all ages. Beginning this Fall, we will be offering the program for 5th grade.

Childhelp’s Speak Up Be Safe (SUBS)
Curriculum Includes:
▶︎ Introduces personal safety concepts (boundaries, respect, resistance strategies)
▶︎ Difference between safe vs. unsafe situations and behaviors
▶︎ Age-appropriate understanding of abuse, neglect, and bullying/cyberbullying
▶︎ Identifying and seeking help from safe adults

SPEAK UP BE SAFE
Curriculum for Elementary Schools
▶︎ We present Childhelp’s Speak Up Be Safe, a nationwide curriculum.
▶︎ We host trainings to certify speakers for Speak Up Be Safe (SUBS). All SUBS presenters through C.A.S.T. have passed a full background check.
Since 2021, Speak Up Be Safe has been listed on the California Evidence-Based Clearinghouse for Child Welfare (CEBC) as evidence-based.

Speak Up Be Safe (SUBS) Lessons
There are currently 2 lessons available for 5th grade students. Each lesson is designed to fit into a 45-minute period. Each lesson can be condensed or expanded based on timing needs for schools. C.A.S.T. can present as many lessons as requested.

To have C.A.S.T. present Speak Up Be Safe is FREE. The cost is covered by incredible sponsors and donors.
Lesson Overviews

Focus: Building awareness, confidence, and foundational safety skills for everyday situations.
Introduces personal safety concepts and a child’s right to feel safe
Helps students recognize safe vs. unsafe situations and behaviors
Teaches age-appropriate understanding of abuse and neglect
Explores boundaries, respect, and personal safety
Identifies what makes a “safe adult” and helps students name safe adults in their life
Introduces and reinforces the Speak Up Be Safe Five Key Safety Rules
Includes a Safety Check activity to support learning
